From the Horse’s Mouth
Sessions at Black River Farm & Ranch are all inclusive and include a starter camp for first time campers and young girls, one and two week sessions which can be combined for up to a 4 week stay, Mother Daughter retreats, and Alumni weekends. There is a special experience for everyone that loves horses.
Girls enjoy lots of great activities and challenges, including horseback riding lessons, trail rides, vaulting, swimming, tennis, arts and crafts, boating, archery, and much more.
Mounted horseback riding lessons, ground lessons, vaulting, training, halter class, barn chores and trail rides are just some of the equestrian activities at this Michigan horse camp.
Vaulting, which is gymnastics on horseback, is part of the riding program at Black River Farm & Ranch’s equestrian summer camp. Campers get lessons in the morning and may participate in the vaulting club in the afternoon.
Black River Farm & Ranch opens and closes each session with a campfire and ceremonies for all campers. Campers enjoy cabin sleep outs and campfires during their session, where they can sit around the fire and enjoy the tradition of making s’mores. In the 2 week session, the campers who are eligible to be staff celebrate their final year as campers by going on their own trail ride sleep out adventure with their staff. They have two meals over the campfire where they set up camp, care for their horses, and spend the night under the stars.
