From the Horse’s Mouth
Cheley Colorado Camps offer half day ring rides, all day mountain trail rides, and overnight mountain trail rides. Campers will learn skills like caring for horses, packing a pack horse, and general riding skills. In addition, through the colt program campers learn how to train colts. Cheley has over 146 horses.
Campers are given horseback riding instruction, including in western riding form, handling skills and control as well as the essentials of feeding, grooming, tying knots and saddling during summer horse camp sessions. Kids and teens learn how to maintain correct leads, walk, trot and canter, and how to sit well in the saddle.
Since 1985, Cheley has also offered family summer camps. Families with children age 6 and older can participate in a 5-day family camp in August after the regular summer season ends.
