Why an Equitrekking Top 20 Horse Camp?
The Dunne family, the owners of Oakwood Stables, have many years of equestrian training experience and have enjoyed successes both nationally and internationally in the showjumping ring. They also produce young horses and ponies for competition and sales and coach both children and adults who are interested in improving their showjumping, cross country and pony club riding.
From the Horse’s Mouth
Oakwood Stables’ AIRE approved family run stables are located in beautiful Redcross, Co Wicklow. Oakwood Stables has excellent facilities including a large all weather arena, cross country fences, stabling and grazing. This Ireland riding holiday destination is within easy reach of top showjumping venues, two local hunts and forest hacking.
Guests who visit enjoy riding in the arena, showjumping training, showjumping derby, cross country, forest hacking, pony club games, horse care and knowledge, and gain experience in stable management. Depending on the time of year, Oakwood Stables organizes special trips to National and International horse shows for guests, including the Dublin International Horse Show in August.
Head trainer and owner Amanda Dunne is a British Horse Society qualified instructor, Horse Sport Ireland Level 2 Competition Coach and a Showjumping Ireland approved coach. There are many horses at Oakwood Stables ranging from beginner ponies to learn the basics to top class show jumping ponies and horses that are ideal mounts for advanced ‘Special Stages’ riders.
Kids stay in Oakwood Lodge, which was built in 2012 and can comfortably accommodate up to 14 students. Homemade meals are provided daily.
